In Abakaliki, Nigeria, traumatic injuries are tragically common. Electrocutions, automobile accidents, and other mishaps leave people without access to adequate medical care, rehabilitation, or mobility support.

When this happens, Sister Ursula Anunobi is often the only source of practical help. She visits the injured in overcrowded hospital wards, dressing wounds, providing medicines, advocating for proper care, and providing mobility devices such as wheelchairs so patients are not condemned to life in bed.

One young accident victim recently received a wheelchair through Sister Ursula’s ministry, allowing him to regain mobility and return home with dignity. Another man, electrocuted and in critical condition, received attentive bedside care when his family had no means to support him. Others bear burns, fractures, and amputations—yet they are not alone because Sister Ursula refuses to abandon them.

The Sisters of the Poor Foundation exists for one purpose: to raise funds so this work can continue. We have no paid staff, no fancy offices, and no institutional layers absorbing donations. Our administrative overhead consists only of necessary expenses such as website hosting, domain registration, and occasional fundraising materials.
Everything else goes directly to Sister Ursula’s ministry among the poor, the injured, the disabled, and the abandoned.
We invite you to learn more, share this mission with others, and to support this work. Small acts of mercy can change the course of a life.
